Robotic Procedures

The da Vinci surgical robot consists of three major pieces.

All three components work together allowing the surgeon to move the instrument with extreme precision in a 3-dimensional environment at up to 10 X magnification.

In the traditional approach to heart surgery, the surgeon makes a long incision in the middle of the chest and splits the entire breast bone.  Just like any other broken bone this is associated with increased pain and prolonged recovery.

The surgical robot allows the surgeon to perform many procedures through small incisions while leaving the breast bone intact.  This frequently means less pain and faster recovery.

Some of the procedures which can be done with help from the robot include:

         Bypass Surgery
         Mitral Valve Repair
         Tricuspid Valve Repair
         Closure of Atrial Septal Defects
         Pericardial Surgeries
         Pacemaker
Resection of Thymus Gland for Myasthenius Gravis
